Crusade
of the Purple Knight
The purple knight now
takes command
And rules with tender
heart and hand
His new-green standard
waves on high
As trumpets sound the
battle cry
O Winter, your days are
numbered
For a gentler season,
now remembered,
Has a champion, new
and bold
Escaped from dungeon,
dark and cold.
The Winter-slayer again,
has come
Renewed by shafts of
warming sun
That march across the
country side
To turn dark Winter’s
night aside
One tiny minute more
each day
Til he completely melts
away.
But the Crocus Prince
is very young
The battle for ground
has not been won
Winter yet, is mature
and strong
And he shall fight on,
hard and long
Before he loses his
domain
To great March wind
and April rain.
I pledge my faith to
the Purple tender Knight
And lay about him I
shall sing
Wile round about, the
battles rage
As the Crocus Prince
Crusades for Spring.
